Kind Words

This header runs across the top of the page. This is the keyboard of an antique typewriter. The keys are round, their edges are brass, their surfaces are black, and the letters are gold-colored capital blocks. It’s outdoors in a shady area with dappled, early-morning sunlight illuminating a few of the keys. It’s sitting on a bed of straw.

It's my honor to support established and emerging leaders working in many sectors. Here's how a few generous partners reflect on our work together:

Tayler

Tayler Ward

Senior Manager of Communications and Education Manager

Just Solutions Collective

When I started my grad school applications, I struggled to explain my passion for community health. Then Charlie and I started exploring my motivations. He helped me explain my "why." I was admitted to several graduate programs and since graduated from a dual master's program. Today, I promote community-created and equity-led solutions to the climate crisis and still use many of the lessons from my work with Charlie.  His support during my graduate school journey was truly critical!

Michael Green

Founder
Center for Environmental Health

I was the CEO of the Center for Environmental Health for twenty-five years. For thirteen of those years, Charlie was my second-in-charge and one of my important sources of professional support. I relied on him as a sounding board, and his support and insight made me a more successful leader. He also built deep trust with our staff. Colleagues throughout the organization benefited from his mentorship, friendly ear, and wise counsel. I credit Charlie's support for so much of our success.

Jackie

Jackie Walsh

Criminal Defense Attorney

Jacqueline K. Walsh Law

I represent people facing the death penalty. I've brought Charlie in to help on several cases when we needed to find a message that moves a witness, a prosecutor, or a judge. He has a knack for boiling a complicated legal scenario down to essentials. In person and in writing, he conveys feelings that make legal players act. His talents as a communicator and a storyteller have helped save lives.

Alvaro

Álvaro Palacios Casanova

Government Affairs Specialist
California Academy of Sciences

One of the things I loved about working with Charlie was how he made sure I heard my own answers to his questions. He challenged me to tell my best story in my resume and cover letters. We also prepared for tough interview questions and developed strategies for negotiating offers. The whole time, he spotlighted my strengths and helped me build confidence that I still bring to my professional life.

Susan Corlett

Director of Development and Communications
Friends of the Children

I’m so pleased that allies in social justice and other sectors can  benefit from Charlie's experience! We worked closely together on the leadership team of an environmental non-profit. When I needed content that helped our supporters connect with our work, I went to Charlie. He helped me clarify what I wanted and helped my team develop messages that raised money. Charlie creates content that makes people feel why the work of our sectors matters.

Ashley Iwanaga

Director of Coalition Operations & Culture
Stop AAPI Hate

When I faced a team challenge at work, Charlie provided a space for me to talk about it openly and confidentially. He helped me break the situation into pieces so I could decide which ones to focus on. I found a new perspective and a path that was comfortable for me. Charlie's support helped me manage a difficult challenge and create a work environment that promoted success for my team and me.

Leila Eshaghpour-Silberman

Class of '28
Princeton University

Charlie’s help was invaluable in the stressful college admission process. I didn’t know where to start my essays. Charlie listened to me and helped me see the story I wanted to tell. His feedback helped me use each word to convey my message in a compelling way. He was also supportive and encouraging, a grounding presence in a hectic time of deadlines and word counts. I feel so lucky to have worked with him.
